Warm spot

Sanuk our Siamese cat loves warm spots in the house, especially sunshine. It's cloudy & rainy today. I was working on laundry so she found a pretty good spot!

Birthday fun!!

Tonight I went to a surprise party for my friend Alicia ("ah-lee-see-ya") I love the pronunciation of her name- so beautiful!! It's her bday this week & her sis & sister in law put on the most FUN party! It was an iron chef America theme (as Alicia went to culinary school last year) & it was so fun to watch!! I got to be one of the 3 judges which was great too. I teased Alicia that she thought she was getting out of cooking for the night (date night out) but then she catered us her birthday dinner... Haha

chef Alicia checking out the secret ingredient! (limes/lemons)

Of course me being creative, I wanted to make her a bday gift, so I thought some cutesy aprons would fit the bill...

Alicia posing with hostess apron #1 (pink& red paisley with red ruffles & zebra pocket & sashing)

Posing with her birthday bouquet & apron #2

Close up of apron #2 (looove the polka dots!) let me point out I had leftover red ruffle fabric from the other apron so I made a flower out of it & attached it in the corner :) sew cute!!!
Happy Birthday Alicia!

Sling baby

So I should be getting the catalog this week that has Maddox on the front cover ! Yeah!!! So excited! I also got an email that they want Maddox to come back for another shoot! That'll be in about 2 weeks... Pretty cool!
We wear our sling ALL the time... In fact almost daily. He loves it, I love it. Here's a quick pic of him & I- I've been putting him in the front upright hold lately but I think he still loves the front forward hold too.. as long as he can check everything out!

Sew little time!!

Recently, I've been wondering when God gave us the gift of becoming parents, why didn't he create us to not need sleep? it's a cruel world! We have had an insanely busy last month, so busy I haven't had time to blog! how is that possible? Just a few things that've gone down in the past month..good and bad!
1. Mason got a ruptured ear drum from an ear infection
2. Maddox got a nice lil bacterial virus
3. Momma apparently loves on the babies too much, because the day after I got Maddox's bug
4. Daddy turned 31!
5. Maddox turned 7 months old
6. We've been enjoying the cooler weather with mutliple park trips
7. I fell off the jogging wagon. One week it rained solid for a week. the week after that I got the bug. finding excuses to jump back on the bandwagon.
8. We welcomed baby Jaxson to the world! (Sara's baby was born last tuesday)
9. We celebrated Papa's 59th Birthday last weekend
10. work has been crazy busy
11. I chopped my hair 5 inches shorter
12. Sewing has taken over my spare time! More so, quilting mainly. So apparently I can sew, but not clothes like my mom could. I've found that I can't follow patterns very well. Guess i question the directions too much and get frustrated. But I've found with quilting, i can really let my creativity just go and I can have fun with it! I'm inspired by colors & textures, so I can really have fun with fabrics with quilting. So far I've created 2 quilts in the last month, 1 for Mason's room & the other was for a friend who is having a baby in December. Just started my 3rd quilt and have many more planned :)
13. my short term memory loss has gotten the better of me and I really couldn't tell you what else important has happnened!

The artist

So we know Mason has an artistic side, he loves anything artsy & is very interested when I paint or sew. It'll be very interesting to see this develop over the years. You betcha this is one of his many traits that I will encourage is art.
He's known in class to love art & craft time. Let's just say he's the little artiste!!
After today, I'm going to say he got this gene from Gavin. I think my child might be slightly abstract to say the least.
Can u tell which one is Mason's?

Hint : 3rd from the left.
I'm also guessing he didn't want any help with it either! LOL

2nd day of school

School started Tuesday (horray!!!) Mason absolutely loves his teachers! Ms Barbara is one of his teachers from last year & Ms Michelle subbed last year too so the kids are familiar with her too. They're in a new big classroom with lots of new exciting toys & activities. Mason has been so excited in the mornings when he knows it's a school day!

Maddox is doing well, not napping as much as at home but I think that's because he's too busy charming his teachers. Ms Becky was Mason's teacher when he started & Ms Lori also watched Mason & a friend over the summer so we know her really well too. Maddox is a lot like his daddy in the mornings where he is a slow riser & slow to start the day. He's always a happy baby from first getting up, but you sure wouldn't have known it by looking at his picture from this morning! This cracks me UP. This is the same look I get from Gavin when dragging him out of bed in the mornings.

Toddler prison

Mason wanted to sit in the extra bouncy seat.

But mean mommy that I am strapped him in. Is it bad that enjoyed the 5 minutes of him strapped in somewhere?

Then I enjoyed an additional 2 minutes of him struggling to get out. It was slightly amusing. ;)

It was just payback for him being a toot at naptime today!
