some new favorite blogs to check out!

I must say- i LOVE moms who have lots of free time and do cool things like this:

1- $5 dinners- http://www.5dollardinners.com/
who doesn't want ideas for meals and for CHEAP for their family? She uses a lot of all natural type foods which is a bonus- not much processed foods, which is generally what I think of when a $5 dinner comes to mind!

2- Deal Seeking Mom - http://www.dealseekingmom.com
I don't care much for wal-mart, and hate going there even more. Sad to say when I do go, I plan it for my first trip of the day so I get there before it gets crazy (like before 9:30 am) I hate lines, i hate big crowds and really can't stand when having to dodge other peoples kids that they can't keep under control with my shopping cart. Don't you bet I'd be just a ball of sunshine at Wal-Mart on a Saturday afternoon huh?!? ANyway, thank you to this wonderful Mom, I think she just made my wal-mart shopping trips more enjoyable 10 times over. Free things is a bonus.

Mason and his girl!

Mason's class is doing a small project this month and he needs a picture of him and his favorite pet- we realized we didn't have any current photos of Mason & Shelby, so Daddy did a mini photo shoot with the 2! Mason still can't say Shelby very well, for some reason it sounds more like Tractor (but with an S) haha, so he still just calls her "Dawg" or "Doggie" They sure do get along great though! He's the typical boy that just LOVES Dogs. And of course Shelby is just awesome with Mason as well as all kids. She's just hands down one of the best dogs I've ever had, very patient and gentle- I can't believe she's already 8 years old this year!!

My sweet girl- first born kid ;-)

Grease Monkey

Mason has been LOVING doing outside things with Gavin- mainly involving doing yard work, playing with Car things or just playing in the garage. He's really loving the big boy time he gets with Daddy! I think Daddy enjoys seeing his miniature version of himself enjoying it too :-)

Mason is also VERY specific in who's car belongs to who. Momma's truck, Daddy's car, Daddy's FUN Car. That's what he calls the camaro- it's a treat for him to go for rides with JUST daddy ! He's also very specific about who sits where when we're in the car(s)- he shows Gavin where Maddox is supposed to sit, where Mommy & Daddy sits and his very own important car seat, usually calling it "MAH car seat!"

First of many photo shoots

Gavin has been eagerly training Maddox for the camera like he did with Mason- start them early he says! I need a shirt that says, "My Husband Rocks" now :-) Because he sure does!

Maddox on Monday. Before he finally WOKE up to the world.

Maddox at 8 days old (today) with eyes OPEN. that's right, he's actually AWAKE! We've been noticing his awake times at certain times of the day, so Gavin took full advantage of that today. He looks a lot like Mason here to me!

He's been enjoying it when I tickle his face or just lightly stroke his face. I've gotten a few leg twitchings out of it haha

Sure does relax him. Wait... he's almost always relaxed!

Ugh. LOVE this photo. Mason has been doing so much better than I thought with this transition. Granted it has only been a week. However, he's really been loving on Maddox. First few days you'd ask him if he wanted to give Baby Brother a kiss and No was usually the answer. I knew we couldn't pressure him and he'd come around on his own (just like everything else). The last few days he's been known to run up to Maddox's chair and kiss his toes or gently hug the whole chair. so sweet! Tonight he gave him a super sweet and gentle kiss on the lips!

I have to say I missed my chance with a photo op yesterday. Maddox was sleeping so peacefully up on my chest sleeping on his side while I was dozing off in the lazy boy chair. Mason came up and decided he wanted to cuddle too. He climbed up in my lap facing Maddox, leaned up against me and wrapped his arm around Maddox and said, "CUTE!" awe so so sweet!

Birth Photos

When Mason was born we did the generic Hospital Baby photos. Sadly, they STILL call us because we bought a small package. Kind of annoying. When the hospital photographer came in last saturday morning before we came home she asked if I wanted photos....i looked over in the corner and saw Gavin's luggage (gargantuan photo bag on wheels) and said, "uhhhh, no I think we'll be fine." She looked at me like I was CRAZY!

Here is just a few photos Gavin took on Maddox's BIRTH day :-)

Proof he does cry. It's a rare thing, but he did cry when he came out! We love this blessing of a content baby! :-)

Mommy and Baby. I can't believe I'm actually posting this photo. EVERY mom knows they never look worse than RIGHT after having a baby and you've been pumped FULL of fluids for hours, messy hair, and no make up. Not to mention all the tubing/wires and beautiful hospital gown are SO very flattering!

Loving this 2 year old Language

Tonight before dinner, Mason was already sitting in his chair while I was putting his food on his plate and I have to say so far it was the sweetest thing I've ever heard him say next to "Love you Momma" (Yuv you Momma is more like it) Mason was folding his hands and said, "Dangk You (Thank you) for Dada, Momma, (didn't quite hear if he said brother or not! hhaha) Papa, Deedee, Papaw, Josh, Mimi, Rilee, Pressie (one of twins in his class), Kare (Ms. Kari) Mimi, Ja-jon(Jackson), Sara, Mimi, Brookie.......clearly he is very thankful for Mimi (Aunt Amy). It was so cute! :-)

Is something wrong with my baby?

It's really too good to be true. Thank you Lord for such a laid back baby! We go in for a check up tomorrow with our pediatrician for Maddox's jaundice. I think I might have to have him give Maddox the once over. Really, he's so laid back and easy going. He almost never cries (only when we're changing his diaper and the wipes are too cold or he's cold) He doesnt cry when he's wet or poopy or hungry. WHAT???? yeah, no kidding! We basically wake him up every 3 to 4 hours or so during the day, change his diaper then feed him. and then back to sleep he goes. No complaints from him. He's also so QUIET when he sleeps, and so content, he doesnt flail his arms or anything like that. I'm almost worried there's something wrong! My friend Erin says we just won the Baby Lottery. I guess I can't complain!!

I didn't go into much detail yet as far as his birth- so here's the basics!
His given name: Maddox Lee (I've probably mentioned before Lee was my Mom's middle name)
Time Born: 4:08 pm (natural with an epidural)
Height: 19 3/4"
Weight: 7 lbs 3 oz (almost a whole lb lighter than Mason- and wow that lb does really make a difference, I think Mason was a big baby!
Who was there: Gavin and my best friend Sara both attended. Sara didn't bother moving away from my head- haha. Gavin got to help deliver Maddox which was very cool!
Who does he look like? So far we think Maddox has my forehead, ears and lips. He has Gavin's nose and chin for SURE! We're still uncertain about his eyes since he's barely kept them open! (i'm thinking he'll have Gavin's eye color- a hazel-y color)
So if you are interested about his birth here's the low down-
my dr broke my water around 9 am
Got my epidural around 11 am
Epidural made me REALLy really drowsy- so I finally got a decent nap after that.
Sara got there around 2 maybe before. - sometime around then I was dialated 6 cm. Gavin went into the waiting room to get some work done & so Sara & I could chit chat.
Got excited to watch Dr Phil with Octomom at 3pm.
around 3:15 i started getting very uncomfortable and coudnt concentrate on Dr Phil anymore, asked if they could top off my epidural. Definitely felt the need to push. and shortly there after actually felt that I had to breathe thru my contractions, the nurse put me on oxygen since my blood pressure was low. Gavin & Sara were watching how my contractions measured on the chart, and I kept telling when they were starting before they even registered on the monitor. Finally got a little added to my epidural and felt better, only to start pushing 5 minutes later! Loved my epidural, except it made me really drowsy (and since I got topped off right before Maddox was born it took me some extra time to shake it off) I don't remember having that side effect with Mason- but I do remember the itch! Sara would laugh at me because I just wanted to scratch my legs like crazy afterwards!
Overall, this delivery was SO much easier and quicker even though there was some waiting time in there, what a relief!

I should have some pictures to post tomorrow :-)

I can get used to this :-)

We were brought dinner last night and tonight with a few more lined up this week....I could get used to this :-)
Last night we had a chicken & rice bake type casserole that Gavin just about made himself sick on (along with the chocolate chip cookies) Thanks Alicia!
Tonight my good friend Erin brought us some Buffalo Chili & Risotto with chicken sausage and squash in it. Yeah, I sure made myself sick on that! That was stinkin' good! So anytime anyone wants to make us dinner- they are MORE than welcome to!
Mason decided to make his own concoction- he couldn't have the Risotto, so we made him up some rice and he decided to mix it with his chili and applesauce too. apparently it was good because he scarfed it down. strange combo, but whatever!

No one is getting tupperware back until I get recipes!!! :-D

First Night at Home

We had a pretty busy day yesterday afternoon- it started off quiet- I was rather bored at the hospital. Maddox was busy baking under the blue lights (just a little bit of jaundice) and then he had his circumcision, so I didn't see him much until we were both discharged after lunch.
Came home and unpacked, relaxed and then we got a nice wave of visitors from all 3 grandparents, Amy & Rilee twice (Amy can't get her fill of newborn :-), Christopher, and Alicia and Dustin came by to bring us dinner. Speaking of which, Alicia might be giving my cooking a run for it's money. Gavin has now learned that if Alicia has cooked it- it must be good!
Mason was very interested in baby brother yesterday. We've just been giving him small doses of the baby as to not overwhelm him with adjustment. When it was time to feed Maddox yesterday he wanted to help hold his bottle, he even wanted to hold him on his lap for a whole 10 seconds and was very interested when I changed his diaper too.
Last night Mason had a sleepover at Deedee & Papa's house so we could have 1 night of figuring out the newborn thing again at home with some sleep. I was expecting to be up every few hours like with Mason. I was pleasantly surprised it was quite different! We have the pack n play set up in our room and I figured Maddox would be sleeping there for the first month or so. I fed him a bottle at 10 pm just before going to bed, and woke up around 2:45 to him smacking his tongue (I've learned this is his sign when he's hungry!) he had his pacifier before this and he wouldnt keep it in so sure enough he was hungry. After that feeding, he didn't make a peep! The 2nd half of the night he didn't have his paci (seems to not need it after a feeding) and that didn't bother him (woohoo!) He sleeps so quietly, unlike my other 3 boys. 3 boys being Gavin, Mason AND the cat. Yes all 3 are noisy sleepers. Well Mason not so much anymore, but as a baby he was a noisy sleeper! I even checked on Maddox this morning at 7 am to make sure he was okay but he was cozy and sound asleep! Finally I woke him up close to 8:30 to feed him!
Needless to say, we had a good nights sleep for our first night at home and I think I might actually pop in a nap before Mason gets home :-)
