Calling Dada!
Mason and I took a nice mid day nap together today while our housekeeper was busy cleaning house (that was nice for both things!) As soon as Mason woke up I went to change his diaper and our house keeper had set one of Mason's toys on his dresser that had fallen behind his dresser. So I handed it to him to keep him entertained while I changed his diaper. Its a small giraffe puzzle piece about 4" long with a small knob for a handle. Mason likes to use it as a cell phone. His exact conversation during his diaper change went like this. Holds giraffe up to his ear, "Hi Dada. Daaat daaat dar gar gar. Bye!" Apparently he likes to talk to Dada on the phone!

What a Walker!!
I can't believe Mason took his first steps just over a week ago and he's walking EVERYWHERE now! He's such a big boy, and he knows it! Now that he walks everywhere, I've been taking him outside to play more often and he LOVES being outside. Looks like the weather is turning bitter cold later this week, so we better get our chance to go outside tomorrow! I also signed up Mason and I for "Gymboree" on Wednesday mornings and we start tomorrow, so I'm sure Mason will have a blast climbing and playing and dancing! Not much else is new besides our baby is such a good walker and is into EVERYTHING! I baby proofed our fireplace hearth (put foam around the edge of it) to protect his little head, but Mason now things its fun to just pull it off. Yeah. He's been teething his side teeth (#9-12, maybe even more who knows!) so he hasnt been sleeping so great the past few nights, he cut one of them last night, so hopefully there's an end soon! Poor Baby! He's had a rough week so far between teething, fighting these horrible allergies (both mason and I are having a rough time with this darn mountain cedar!) and his excema has flared up again, so we're going to try dairy free milk to see if it clears it up. Poor baby has had a tough time this week so far- but it hasnt SLOWED him down one bit!

Mason & the Mason Chair
Mason got this great chair from Grandpa B for christmas- its the Anywhere Chair from Potterybarn kids (all kids need one of these!) We just got the embroidered cover in yesterday so its a new thing for him. He loves it so much, he climbs all over it, lays in it, stands on it (trying to break him of that habit!) we only have had one accident so far (a nice face plant last night when I told him to sit down!) He's gotta learn though right? This morning, I had 15 minutes of BLISS. TV shouldnt be a babysitter by any means, but 15 minutes of your kiddo watching "the Wiggles" while you get to clean the kitchen with no kid making a mess behind you is WONDERFUL! So "The Wiggles" and the Mason Chair makes a great combo!
This evening, I was trying to kill time for about 30 minutes before picking up Grandpa B at the airport, so I decided before it got dark to take Mason to the park. He had a BLAST! Between trying to eat rocks, playing on the swings and the slide, he had so much fun! I tried getting a picture of him playing, but he wouldnt even look at me he was having so much fun! So looks like as soon as it gets warmer we'll be making LOTS of trips to the park!

Fruit Fiend!
I've heard that sometimes your favorite foods while pregnant can end up being baby's favorite foods. Well that is definitely true in our case! Mason has taken such a liking to fresh fruit, we've had to CUT HIM OFF! If he could, he would eat EVERY meal of cheetos and fruit! Mason started waking up more often at night because he was hungry, thats when I decided, Okay...he better start eating other things! Sunday morning while getting ready for church for breakfast Mason didnt want his french toast sticks, so I gave him a 'cutie' (clementine) then he decided that he wanted to eat mine too...AND while I was getting cleaned up, he ate GAVIN's as well. Well later that afternoon poor Mason had an explosive diaper that ended up being ORANGE! ahhh! SO now, he MIGHT get 1/2 of a cutie but no more than that! I admit fruit is good, but you can only eat so much of it!
Mason was so funny this morning, he usually hangs out in the bathroom while I get showered and cleaned up. Usually after I get showered is when I start waking Gavin up while standing at the bathroom door. Well before I could get to it, Mason stood in the bathroom door, pointed his finger at the Bed and yelled, "Dada! Gaaaaa grrrrrrr daaaaaaaaaa! Dada!" I think Mason was trying to tell him, "Dada, time to get outta bed!" I cant wait until Mason can REALLy start waking him up in the morning besides me! LOL

Communication
Mason has been getting so much better at communicating- obviously alot of it is still jibberish, but he's trying! He's recently stopped saying Mama, but boy he's sure got Dada down, and he's started the squealing! Other than that he says "Daw" for Dog (every morning he says 'Hi Daw!'), "Hi", "Bye" and waves, "Dada", 'aigh' for light (he points at all lights that are on!), "Dat" and points to whatever he wants, and "Aaaaaaaaaat!" for cat (and he does it to sound like a cat too!) and nuuum for food. And of course he shakes his head no at everything. If he gets in trouble (say for playing with the tv buttons) and I take him away and say No No, he'll whine and shake his head no at me! Glad he cant tell me No yet! He does say Naa Naa alot lately, not sure if its just mumbling or what or if he knows its for Nana (Granma M). If you ask Mason "Where is Dada?" He either points to Gavin's office door or to the back door (garage). LOL If he hears the garage door open or close he yells "DADA!" and waves. Its definitely fun to see him figuring things out!
This morning he was sitting in the entry way in his push car and I opened up the front door for the dogs to enjoy their live tv (glass storm door) usually he points and says "uh uh uh" at things, but today when i opened the door he patted his car, pointed outside, said "Ouu" and looked at me- I actually understood that he wanted to go for a ride outside. Sadly, i had to disappoint him, it was too early for Mom!

Like Father like Son!
Either the apple doesnt fall far from the tree or it's just in the blood...but Mason LOVES cars ALREADY! I might be in trouble! Mason loves hot wheels and usually always has one in hand around the house and even makes 'vroom vroom' sounds. For Christmas Santa brought Mason 2 great toys, a push car/buggy, and an electric push car (thanks Uncle JB!). I've never seen Gavin SO proud since the day Mason was BORN when Mason figured out how to drive the car (push the power button) as SOON as he got into the electric car! It is now a mandatory ride daily outside whether warm or cold! He loves to sit in the car inside and push the button and scare the dogs, too bad he hasnt figured out how to steer yet! Gavin brought out his remote control car one night and had some fun chasing poor Molly around and Mason just had a blast playing with Daddy!
On a side note after taking his first steps last night, Mason walked across the room today! Holy Moly!!

Mason & Molly
Molly is our funny little dog. Molly and Bear were my Mom's dogs...after she passed away we 'temporarily' adopted them (pre-Mason) which was supposed to be 6 months, is now almost 2 years. So we indefinitely have the dogs. I kind of have a love hate relationship with having 3 dogs. All 3 dogs (Shelby, Molly & Bear) are such great dogs, get along WONDERFULLY and all are such great pets and really good with Mason. What I hate is that I have THREE DOGS! (dont forget we have the 2 cats AND Mason too!) ...DAD- did I mention how much I LOVE our new dyson Santa brought me?!?! it definitely makes having 5 pets easier!
Anyway, Molly has always been kinda wierd around kids, just not sure about them and didnt want to have anything to do with kids really, but Molly has really surprised me over the past 6 months since Mason became mobile. Molly has become such a GREAT dog for Mason, so tolerable and really plays with him too! Shelby sometimes plays with Mason and her tennis ball, but most of the time she is just a ball hog! Bear just doesnt really play, since she's kind of skittish, but she come up for a kiss or two and lets Mason pet her alot. Molly on the other hand, plays with Mason. He's learned to play like the dogs, he scrambles (thats what I call a fast crawl!) and headbutts her and charges her, and she does her funny bouncing around at Mason! She even lets Mason roll all over her and lay on top of her, he's so funny he just lays flat on top of her with his arms and legs just spread out! Here's a few cute pictures of them playing in the sunroom the other day.
Enjoy!

We have a Toddler!
I've heard babies become toddlers when they start walking-well Mason became a toddler tonight! That's right- he took his first steps tonight...not just one or 2, but more like 5 steps SEVERAL times! We were so excited and he was clapping and laughing the whole time! Nana & Granpa McNosky were there to see it too! I knew that when he figured it out he would take off with it! We were all so excited and he was so funny when he caught on! We'll have to get it on video tomorrow, so hopefully we just wore him out tonight and he will sleep GREAT tonight!
here's some recent photos that I've been slacking on posting!
