Things I've made

We've been pretty busy (What's new!) between work, home projects & building projects, KIDS, running, yoga, birthdays, LOTS of baby showers (which means lots of sewing) and just the regular busy life on top of it all, no wonder blogging doesnt get done!

Back in December Gavin decided sacrifice his office (originally a large game room) since the boys are in the same room & I'm in need of an office/craft room. We talked about making the spare room into a playroom, but since our sunroom is still the perfect place for that & I didn't like the idea of the room next to the boys room being my craft room since I do a lot of sewing, I was afraid of waking the boys up, so Gavin offered to move over his office. What a nice husband!! Gavin's office is almost complete which means my craft room is NEXT!!! I've got a temporary table set up & the wardrobe units put together so I've been able to reclaim my dining room AND I've gotten quite a bit of sewing completed in the last 2 months. I'll have to take some pictures of the progress of the craft room as we go :)

So here are some recent projects I've completed!

Remember all the old vintage fabrics Gavin's Granma gave me? I was determined to do something with them for her for Christmas- this was just a basic wreath with fabric strips tied on
From Crafts

Her other gift using the vintage fabrics was a dozen place mats (okay that project took A LOT longer than expected) but I did use majority of the fabric she gave me AND i got to use up all the trim she gave me too!

My friend Dede, my sister Amy & I went to Canton back over the summer and amy bought some large bare wooden crosses. Of course me her PROJECT MANAGER (aka- person who does her projects! LOL) had them sitting in my dining room for quite some time and finally got them finished last week! i need to take a close up of the red one, i love the detailing on it!

Cross for my niece Rilee's Bathroom

My friend Meredith hired me to make some t shirt quilts out of her & her husbands college shirts (Texas A & M if you can't tell!)
this was a big learning experience for me, but i really enjoyed it and I hope she likes them!
The first is her shirts from her sorority- i used the backs of the shirts as a good amount of them all had bible verses on them, and i really wanted to incorporate that.

The 2nd one is more the true Aggie theme- lots of Maroon!

Babys 1st hair cut

Went & got Maddox's 1st haircut yesterday. His baby hair is so fine & was getting so so long on top. He did really good & just stared at the hairdresser most of the time wondering what she was doing with his head. When she pulled the clippers out to shave around his ears he finally decided he was done. He looks so much better now, not sure you can tell because he's just so stinkin' cute!

Sitting in his fun red airplane

Does not look amused.

Bath time

We've been bathing the boys together since Maddox out grew the infant tub looooong ago, but we've had him in a bath ring since then. Yes I know he's 10 months old, but I'd rather be safe when 1/2 of my attention goes to a toddler. ;)
Last night I finally did away with it & he thinks it's hilarious now !

Goof.

Movie time

Sunday we had a lazy/productive day. We didn't go anywhere & didn't get many chores done- but we got some projects done! Yeah!
Naptime came around & went, mason just didn't act tired & was behaving really well so I said okay you can hang out with Daddy instead. Gavins office was project central & he usually has a movie going, today it was 'Back to the Future' & wow Mason was just mezmerized by it, he laughed, talked about Doc, the superfast car & really liked the movie all together. Which is surprising that it's not a cartoon.

After it ended Gavin put on Toy Story 2 which M seemed to like until the garage sale guy came on. Then he was done with it for the most part. (that might go back to Mimi telling him & Rilee there is bad men outside??)
Gavin liked that he really enjoyed BttF!

Rainboots is the way to go!

Recent Randomness

Weve been so busy since NewYears I barely remember what happened since, let alone the little things tend to slip my mind- Thank goodness for calendars & camera phones to remind me!

Mason & Papaw playing trains

Mason put on his underwear ... His waist is in a leg hole. ?? He was so proud of himself.

Phone conversations with mason goes something like this-
M: hi mommy
Me: hi mason
M: how are you?
Me: fine, thank you.
M: are you at work ?
Me: no, I'm sitting right in front of u on Nana's couch.
M: okay. Miss you.
Me: love u bye.

And then it starts all over again. Makes no sense. And I'm not quite sure where he gets this "work" mentality!!

Yeah! Finally have a mirror in our entry way!! Previously owned frame+ beveled mirror from lowes ($23.00)+handy
husband = happy wife :)
Now I need a longer entry table!

Found my sister's clone
At Wal-Mart. Why didn't Barbie come with a little black dress when I was 6? I might have liked her more!

2 best buddies eating lunch at Jackson's Birthday party

So close to crawling!!!!!!

Helping Daddy build my wardrobe units for thr craft room. What a helper!

So easily entertained.

Fixin' his new big boy bike. Because everything needs a-fixin' you know!

Even closer!!!!

Running Update

Laura & I are doing great!! We are officially starting week 6 on Thursday! There is 9 weeks in the program, however we repeated week 3 a couple of times. We've stayed so committed to this program and we are SO proud of ourselves for it!!!! I have to say laura is an amazing neighbor to have. I'm so lucky to have found a friend in her. Not so sure if she's as lucky, as she puts up a lot with my complaining!
When we started the program I couldn't IMAGINE running for 3 minutes.
well TONIGHT we ran 20 minutes STRAIGHT. that's on average about 2 miles. I've never run so far in my life. and for no reason! ha!
this is for a great reason really. Even with running over the holidays, unfortunately I discovered Starbucks 'Caramel Brulee Latte'....well...so i might have had a few a week and drank those burned calories. bad bad bad. so i lost 3 lbs before the holidays...stayed about the same, maybe put 2 lbs back on DURING the holidays, and since i boycotted Starbucks for taking away my favorite drink right about New Years time, i've dropped 3 lbs again. the scale is SLOWLY going down thankfully! I have been noticing my clothes fitting better. That's my main motivation is dropping weight. and really accomplishing something I never expected myself to be able to do. I cannot wait to cross that finish line at the 5K and check out my runtime.

This past Saturday Laura & I signed up for our first 'practice' 5K. The "JiggleButt Run" 5K was in Arlington at UTA & I had the idea it might be fun to try that day's training AT the 5k. So we got a feel for how the race would be set up, the pace with everyone else , etc. It went great, it was cold but we did it. we did not run the entire 5K because we're not at that point yet in our training, but we did run about a mile & 1/2!

Funny thing, some friends of mine have recently started the Couch to 5K program as well (which I'm loving to see the progress!!!) and all are doing it inside on a treadmill. I still give them props for doing the program, but I feel like we're really accomplishing more than just running. we're also dealing with the elements. the warmest it's been while running for us has been in the mid 60's (the few days before a serious cold front hit on Christmas eve) and the COLDEST we've run in was 18 degrees! for someone to get out and RUN in 18 degrees weather is committed. or just crazy. not sure which. I've had a few people ask me "isn't it FREEZING?" well...yes it is, but anything under 40 degrees is cold anyway & we tend to bundle up. COLD IS COLD. one night last week it was in the upper 20's when we ran, but there was a cold wind and it just really chilled you to the core. thankfully this past saturday we didn't have that wind so the 18 degrees wasn't THAT bad. leggings under my pants was definitely a smart choice. i wore some tight fitting long sleeved under my running jacket (a windproof type jacket i found that i LOOOOVE), a head wrap that covers my ears, gloves and a big scarf. the scarf really kept me warm at first, but i was really fighting with it toward the end. I'm glad we did it and it was GREAT motivation for our upcoming race!!!

We have 6 weeks or so now until the cowtown 5K (February 27th!) and I'm nervous and excited all at the same time! Laura & I have started doing Bikram Yoga (Hot room yoga) on Sunday nights now and just after the first class I've seen how it's going to really help with the running. So stay tuned for future updates!!!!

FW science museum

We went to the FW museum of science yesterday & had a blast! Such a fun place... And very different than I remember as a kid!

M in a dinosaur footprint. He thought it was a bath tub. Funny thing when we were leaving that morning he asked where we were going & I told him to the museum with Alexander. He said he was afraid of the museum (an episode of Caillou he goes to visit the dinosaur museum) well, I responded with 'oh there won't be any dinosaurs there.' oops!!! He ended up liking them though.

What kind of grin is this????

The most awesome train table ever.

Ooooh. Buuuuuubbbbbles.

He's starting to look like a big boy :-(

M checking out @ grocery store.

Seriously. This face??? Not cute. Is it pirate impersonator day?????

Giddy up pony.... Fun video game of herding cows. M wasn't so good. But I was!! Must go back from my days of riding horses. Yes that must be it because I don't have a single video game in my house.
