My favorite photo

This photo is the reason why i bought Gavin this shirt. :-)
This shirt is the reason why Gavin got to HELP deliver his son. That's right, our doctor is pretty cool. Since the 'goo factor' doesn't bother Gavin (but it sure does to me!) she put gloves on him and once I pushed his head out, she let Gavin pretty much catch Maddox. I think Gavin thought it was pretty cool!

LOVE it. wish I had a matching one for Mason that said, "My Mom rocks" ahh I'm going to love being a Mom of boys.....For the next 20 something years I'll be the main woman in lives! LOL

Maddox is here!

I'll go into detail more tomorrow since I'm about to head to bed, but for the basics Maddox was born at 4:08 pm yesterday (2/26/09) funny thing I called 4:12 was going to be his birth time. Close enough! We pushed for maybe 15 minutes (I knew what I was doing this time around!) so much quicker, and much easier too, with overall a easier recovery already!
Enough of Mommy right? i know you just really want to see pictures!

My rockin' Husband. He rocks just for wearing this shirt. He became rather popular amongst the nurses because of his shirt. They gave him special treatment! haha

Looks quite a bit like Mason to me!
From February2009

Mason wanted to hold HIS baby brother for a whole 10 seconds today, then decided it was time to push him away. Both Mason and Rilee have been slightly intimidated by Maddox since he's so tiny and doll like, but that's been expected. We're giving them Maddox in small doses :-)

*Gush*

Ugh, can I just say how great it is being married to a talented photographer? I love seeing these amazing pictures of my munchkin. Our boys' future wives will truly appreciate the pictures Gavin takes :-)

Funny story about this picture. Gavin bought this hat BEFORE we were ever pregnant with Mason. Gavin knew we'd have boys. I remember being at Wal-Mart and saying, What if we have a girl one day? His response- "we won't." good thing he was so sure of himself! He probably bought this hat about a year before we got pregnant with Mason- and it now finally fits Mason. and Mason LOVES it. as he loves anything his daddy loves. He's become a grease monkey like his daddy- loves to 'fix' things, and constantly asks to go in the garage to hang with Daddy. He's known for trying to 'fix' his tricycle (yet there's nothing wrong with it!) Good to know he'll be handy like his daddy!
Another thing, Mason LOVES Daddy's fun car. Gavin has mentioned possibly selling it since it rarely gets driven. Well it's actually gotten more use lately since Mason now ASKS to go for car rides in "Daddy's Car" (which is funny when he says it, he says it in a deeper voice- it must be special) LOL

Rolling in dead leaves can be so much fun. The reason why Gavin refuses to rake them up yet.

I decided Mason needed a lawn chair. He likes to sit in it and wave at the cars passing by in the front yard.

What a goober.

Doesn't he just look like he's looking for trouble??

Oh, yes there's the trouble. He knows he's not supposed to climb up to our neighbor's yard, but it must be fun trying!!

Today's Lesson learned!

Quite an eventful day for a Tuesday, ended up being a great great day! (just to warn you this is a long read- but might be worth it for the lesson!)

1. Dee picked up a humidifier for us for the nursery since we didn't have one in there yet. Well, since the little guy isn't here yet, we put it in our room last night. I think that was the best nights sleep i've had in a while. Not once did I wake up from Cotton mouth. WHen I wake up with cotton mouth- i tend to drink water, which in return causes pregnant me to get up more at night to pee. Last night- didn't get up ONCE! it was nice :-) I also got to sleep into 7:45 am. That was really really nice.

2. My birthday money from Gavin's family has been burning a hole in my wallet, but I've been holding onto it! I've been waiting for a Bed Bath & Beyond coupon. My dad got one in yesterday- yeah!! So i went and used my birthday money on new pots and pans that we desperately needed. In the last 2 weeks we threw away 3 of our old pans that I've had for about 8 years now. Those black flakes in the Mac N Cheese is not pepper, its Tephlon. YES, you get the idea- so in the trash they went! I got a great deal! Thanks to some wonderful kitchen gurus- I was told about the Cuisinart Chef's classic 10 piece set at BB&B. reguarly $150. Using a 20% off coupon saved me $30- PLUS there is a mail in rebate for some free mixng bowls- oooh! can't turn that down! So YEAH for new kitchen things!!!

3. Earlier this year in our bible study we were given a challenge, sort of in a sense....Marsha asked each of us to pray about this line and to see what answer God gives us. This also gave us a chance to really listen for him more. The line goes like this- "This year is my year of ______________." I had prayed about it a few times, and half way into the week, I knew what it was. God wanted me to have ultimate faith in his plan and to give up my control. More specifically my business. So it's my year to give up the reins. 'WHAT? but I created my business and worked my hiney off for the past 7 years, how can I just GIVE up control. I've made it work, I've made it financially, and I'll continue to.' Not necessarily so. I've learned that the talents I have, and my creativity is a gift God's given me, but how I use it is my gift to him. He's shown me over and over again his promises to me and how I can't survive without his blessings. So this was most definitely going to a challenge to me to give him ultimate control over such a thing and to have total FAITH in his plan, where he takes me and my business. SO no more business decisions without consulting the man in charge first.

That really came into play in the past few days. My lease comes up later in May of this year. Gavin has really been feeling the push to move into a studio space, and so we felt the time is right to combine into one space and get him out of the house. We've been looking at different locations since the fall really, but got more serious after Christmas. We had been looking at one space specifically for sometime. I gave up the reins to Gavin to deal with it and the leasing agent- he knows what my needs are for my business. So in the mean time while he dealt with that, I just kept praying, 'Lord either shut a door, keep it open or what have you with your plans for us!' I kept trusting and sure enough- he shut that door for us twice with the leasing agent and the 2 spaces we had looked at. He kept taking his time and stringing us around (which I was fine with knowing if it was meant to be- it'd work out.) Meanwhile, Gavin's friend John called on another space in a GREAT location for us- and WOW, the rent was listed right in our budget. We went to check it out on Friday of last week and we LOVED it. TONS of character, original harwood floors (built in the 1940's) with awesome upgrades. And there's even the possibility for us to grow into the additional space in back. I was so excited about this space, and we decided we'd talk about it over the weekend. Fast forward to sunday at church- I prayed about it, and really felt completely at peace about it and felt God's blessing- this was his plan for us. Awesome- so Monday morning we plan to go talk to the owner again who owns a business next door and she throws us a curveball. Someone else is interested in a 3 year lease (which we were willing to do) but for the ENTIRE location. (crap.) not our plan, but eventually really wanted to.
So she offers us a deal, a nice discount for the first year for both spaces, and then year 2 and 3 would go up to the normal rent. WOW that's a big commitment and a BIG financial responsibility we were not prepared for yet. SO we asked her again, can we talk about it overnight? Thank the LORD that was Monday/yesterday. Monday nights we have bible study. Our lifegroup/bible study has really been teaching me how to pray effectively and more so specifically. At the end of the night when we get together with our smaller prayer groups- usually 2 or 3 of us of the same gender, Martin & Marsha (my prayer warriors) prayed with Gavin and I about this big decision. I felt so anxious over it, didn't feel right, but my business brain kept saying, BUT it's supposed to be ours- let's just do it! Clearly, God had a better plan and was protecting us. We came home and I was mentally exhausted, but I did feel better after praying with Martin & Marsha and even having a few new bible verses to come home with for encouragement. (Marsha reminds me of my mom in the sense that she can throw you bible verses left and right for every occasion, that's good to have!)
So I prayed again before bed last night and even first thing this morning before I was even out of bed and I knew what we had to do. (Thank you lord!) We had to let it GO. I was SO bummed all morning, but trusting God had better plans for us. I really felt the impression there was a reason to let it go- and it wasn't the last we'd see of this space/location, but that was so hard for me grasp! (me being hard headed and trying to take control!!) I talked to my dad for a few minutes and he made me feel a lot better for making a smart move especially with how the economy is the way it is right now- lets not get in over our heads...

So Gavin, John and I got together and went and looked at a few spaces, had some interesting possibilities but nothing exciting. We sat down for lunch and all 3 agreed on the same conclusion. Gavin went to pick up Mason from pre-school and I went on to my Dr's appt. Gavin called me and said John told him the owner didn't sound too happy that we had to pass on the space. I came home just drained from the day and laid down on the couch for a few minutes. Gavin's phone rang and heard him talking to John. Gavin got all giggle-y and excited. Finally I dragged the words out of him. It could only be 2 things- she came back with a better offer for us OR she was bluffing the whole time trying to get us to take the WHOLE space for a 3 year lease. SURE ENOUGH, that was it. She had called John back and asked when we'd be ready to sign the 3 year lease on the front space. THANK YOU LORD! Sure enough he was right, it wasn't the last we'd see of the space, and it worked in our favor more than anything. WHAT a BLESSING that its an amazing location, a really unique location, MOVE IN ready, and RIGHT within our budget.
And thank you Lord for the nice swift kick in the rear end to tell me "TOLD YA SO!" So this was my first major lesson to trust him completely and to NOT ask questions!!!! We're going in tomorrow morning to pay the security deposit to get things started the first of April! HORRAY!

The little things that make me happy!

Besides Gavin and Mason of course :)

I went to central market today to get some powdered sugar for Mason- they are the only local store that carries organic powdered sugar that has tapioca starch instead of cornstarch. I've never checked Whole Foods, but I rarely go there since Market Street and Central Market are so close and I can get everything I need for Mason between the 2 places. Anyway, I was rather bummed to find out that Central Market doesnt carry that powdered sugar that is safe for Mason anymore. Me being determined to find something that will work decided to google how to make powdered sugar. All it is- is pulverized sugar (say 1 cup) to 1 tbsp of a starch (most brands use corn starch, but I can use potato or tapioca starch) So i thought, hmm i could use my food processor....come to find out most people who have made their own suggest using a coffee grinder. YEAH! SO excited to be able to make Mason homemade powdered sugar (its in more recipes than you think!) and ironically, it cuts out Central Market for me now (as much as I love the place!) Market street has been carrying so many more items that I use for Mason- so I'm down to ONE grocery store (besides the Farmer's Market!) It's the little things that can make a Mom happy :)

Place your bets!

Sara cracks me up- she's guessing of when I will go into full labor and have this little one! I've progressed SO much faster this time around than with Mason. So it could be anyday now OR he could wait until his eviction notice on Thursday 2/26!
So take your guess- date, time, height and weight!

Sara is guessing on Sunday. Anytime AFTER tomorrow is good as I'm meeting with 3 clients tomorrow, but I've also got a Birthday dinner with my family planned on Sunday evening at Brio's and I REALLY want to make that dinner :)

February 19th #3

I think Amy said it pretty well today. Never an easy day, and so far 3 years later isn't any easier.

Baby M update :-)

Only 1 more update or so before he's here!
I had my 37 week check up today and baby Maddox is weighing in at 6 lbs 14 oz right now and looking good! I've gained a total of 28 lbs so far (yikes!!) SO thankfully I've got only 8 days left until an end in sight- and I don't think it's possible to gain 2 lbs in 8 days (my goal is to not pass 30 lbs!)! I've eaten crap the past 2 weeks and have been so tired and did gain 2 lbs, but Maddox gained over 1.25 lbs so that's not bad really! Anyway, My OB set an induction date of 2/26 (unless he comes sooner!) I'll be 39 weeks along then. When I went in to see her 2 weeks ago, I had not progressed at all, he hadn't even dropped yet. I knew for a fact that he dropped in the past 2 days just from some recent NEW pains I've been feeling, almost like shooting pains in my hip joints, so he's got to have moved onto a nerve or something. So not only had he dropped, but she told me that I was dialated about 2.5-3 cm- so #2 DOES progress A LOT faster than your first! She was happy with his weight gain and my progression, so she went a head and set my induction date. She did this because she doesnt want him getting any bigger than Mason (who was 8 lbs 2 oz- nice healthy size if you ask me!) and she doesn't think I would last much past next thursday if at all anyway.

I've got a busy week ahead of me- LOTS of plans so I'd rather him not make an appearance until after Sunday!
Tomorrow is our one day at home- lots of laundry to do, need to wash the infant carrier cover, the swing cover & bouncy seat cover since they've been up in the attic for the past few months, along with just finishing up some random things here, FINALLY do my weekly grocery shopping...
Thursday- the 1 day of the year that I do NOT look forward to. Need to do something to honor my mom in the morning, but not quite sure what to do yet. Kristin is taking me to lunch for an early birthday lunch and Sara and Mr Hendrix are coming out after school to help me get some last minute things together and prepare some Mason meals to freeze for him.
Friday- my 28th Birthday! woohoo! While Mason is at preschool I'm going to breakfast with the gals from our bible study, which I am looking forward to. Spending time with them is a treat :) Spending time with 2 of my favorite boys for the rest of the day is my plan before Sara comes back out to take me to a movie! YEAH!
Saturday is my last day to meet with clients for the next 3 weeks to a month. Crazy yes, however we're heading into the wedding season and with the economy and growing family we can't exactly be turning down business!
Sunday- I'm looking forward to our last sunday of our normal routine (sundays are my favorite days) looking forward to getting to church on time for the last time in a while I'm sure and then a birthday dinner with my family....AND meeting my baby brother's girlfriend for the first time! I'm excited!!!! :-)

somewhere in there Gavin is expecting me to pack my 'oh crap' bag/Hospital bag. not so easy when my list is things I use on a DAILY basis! I'm looking forward to one last chaotic week of my ideal kind of chaos- the fun kind of chaos! ha!

Pointless Purse Post

Update: I'm still alive and haven't been hacked up by a chainsaw or rusty farm equipment north of Denton. in fact the craigslist people haven't emailed me back! I'm SO disappointed.

But I've got something to keep your eyes busy for a minute or 2. Thanks Amanda for the pointless Purse Post. ;-)
here's how it goes:
1. Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you cannot go up to your closet and pull out that cute little purse you used back before you had kids. I want to know what you carried today.

2. Post a picture of the contents inside your bag. The theory here is that you can learn a lot about someone from what is in the bag...oh and you can steal mommy secrets!

3. I want to know how much it costs. And this is not to judge, this is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I’d love to hear it.

4. Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you’re showing everyone your diaper bag/non-diaper bag.

Here ya go:

From January2009

Contents of my HandBag: (thanks Dad for the proper term.) or maybe it really is a purse, maybe a purse is a handbag under $30, and a 'handbag' is anything that costs more? kinda like a a vase vs. vaaaaaaase? haha I'm cheap, so it's a purse!
Purse: Emilie M brand I picked up from Marshalls about 2 weeks ago- I hadn't bought a new purse since I went to hong kong in November 2007!! I picked up this purse for a whopping $14.99 :)
-My Coochie Goochie wallet (from hong kong) it's supposed to be a "coach" knock off, but looks more like G's than C's so I call it the coochie goochie wallet.
-My mom's pocket bible still in my purse from bible study last night
-My chunky Red necklace I spent $28 on. I NEVER spend that much on a necklace, but I love this one.
-2 HALF full/empty water bottles. WHY i have 2, not quite sure.
-My clinique compact & Estee Lauder lipstick (best stuff ever!)
-2 pens & a pencil (it drives me crazy to NOT have a writing utensil with me) so i generally have more than 1 just in case
-hand lotion that amy swiped from the hotel cart at the W in NYC last week (it smells yummy!)
-Appt card for my OB appt next tuesday (if i make it there!)
-Sonogram pictures of our baby boy from today. Tracy the sono tech decided he was going to print off quite a few pictures of Maddox's pee pee to show Gavin that it HAS NOT fallen off. ;) Silly Boys... we got a good one of his face too.
-A picture Corlia gave me last night of some of our bible study girls & I at the B&W Women's Dinner back in December

Good idea or Bad?

So i found this listing on Craigslist- I immediately emailed it to my friend Jes.

we have a 100 yr old homestead house and a few barn buildings filled with various antiques and crafts. from old farm equipment and tools to various home and kitchen items, we have at least a few of just about anything that you might ever want for yourself. we got old mason jars and antique crocks to lots of glass-wares, bake wares, and all kinds of old furnishings. if you know what you're looking for -- then let us know, and we can tell you what we have. or if you dont know exactly what you are looking for -- then contact us, and we can schedule a time for you come by and take a look for yourself. we even have some old cars and trucks that havent been on the road in a while, but they would be perfect for someone with either the money or the know-how to restore them.

For Jes, it'd be like a kid in a candy shop! For me, I really just want to go along to see what they have to offer and also for a photo op! We love garage sale-ing out in Wise County where they live, the trade days up in Bowie and places like Canton. As soon as I told Gavin what was going on and read him the listing- he got excited over the idea of cars & trucks (possible antiques) and decided he's coming too. Which makes me feel a lot better because it kind of makes me wonder if the situation to lure people in is kind of 'texas chainsaw massacre-ish'! Jes said not to worry, she has pepperspray. I'm not quite sure what pepperspray would do to a chainsaw, but she has good intentions I guess! I might just have to carry a butterknife in my pocket for extra protection ;-) SO if you haven't heard from me by the end of the week- someone please send a search party somewhere north of Denton!
