Why is it my weekends are either jam packed non stopped craziness or its absolutely uneventful. Guess I shouldnt complain when its quiet right! I guess I shouldnt say it was an uneventful weekend, just the one event was early on in the weekend and nothing after that!
Friday night, Gavin & I ventured with some friends up to Frisco to celebrate Sara's 31st Birthday...ahem...I mean the 7th anniversary of her 24th Birthday! We had a good time pimping out Van Hoffman (Yes Kristin was the 1st to bite the dust and buy a mini van.) on our long ride to Oklahoma. (its not really Oklahoma, we just say it is since its so far north....we even bring our passports!) ;-P Anyway, we had a good time out for dinner and a few drinks with our close friends. We're all parents now (for some reason I do find that scary.) and we dont get to do that very often! We dont get many nights out, let alone with our Mommy & Daddy friends! Even though it was a night out, I was still asleep in bed at 11pm! (i do find that sad, but when sleep is precious and 7:30 am-if I'm lucky- comes really fast especially with a 13 month old!
I think the most exciting thing that happened Saturday was I ventured to Walmart for weekly grocery shopping (without Gavin!) with Mason tagging along. (not always the easiest while alone!) but we managed and that was the highlight of my Saturday evening. Sunday I let Gavin sleep in, So Mason & I went to the early church service & came home and took a nap. At church, Mason got to move up to the "fire truck room" (age specified- new walkers to 18 months) and BOY did he have fun! That afternoon Gavin helped some of our friends move some big items into their new house, so Mason and I spent a while at Bedford Boys Ranch which he THROUGHLY enjoyed. After that we stopped by Analisa & Andy's house where Gavin was helping unload the Uhaul. Analisa & Andy are still newlyweds with no kids in sight. They love seeing Mason, but I also think they love that he is a great birth control! haha! We've been working on discipline with Mason (he's been testing us alot lately, so we were working on that while there. He desperately wanted to play with the fireplace screen which we were not having ANY of that!) I think Mason's mini melt down drove them away even further away from having kids! ha!
We caught part of the super bowl, but got bored and watched something more exciting .... so a rather slow weekend!
Mason has been super busy walking EVERYWHERE and being a complete toddler. Testing Mom & Dad with whats allowed and not allowed and has even been dealing with some seperation anxiety. (ahhhh!!!) funny thing, when we're at church & he goes to Mothers day out a few days a week, there is not even a glimpse of seperation anxiety. But if I walk out to get the mail or Gavin goes out to clean the pool (and Mason sees us or hears us), expect instant crying !! Yikes! when does that END?? On another note, Mason instantly perks up if we go outside. (Thank God for this beautiful weather!) We've been taking full advantage of this weather and playing outside everyday. Mason also has more teeth, I'm not quite sure how many he has now, as being getting into his mouth for a look isnt so easy! I know he has at least 2 of his 1 year molars (upper) and I think he's working on cutting his lower cuspids, hopefully thats a reason why he hasnt been sleeping too well and has been whiney. On a good note, Mason is constantly surprising us with his funny little personality. Now that he is walking EVERYWHERE, he can push the dogs around and not get knocked around so much. He's now known for stepping on Molly and pulling a few kitty tails! youch! Sabai hasnt taken so much to Mason, he generally meows at him and runs away. However Sanuk has been much more patient (our siamese surprisingly.) She even lets Mason step on her, lay on her, roll around on her. She's not so much for tail pulling, however when she's done, she just walks away. I think Mason irritated her too much one night last week and she actually bit him on the upper arm. I wasnt too happy, but he does have to learn to be nice to them! Whenever Mason sees the kitties, he cries just like Sabai does! Sabai has a rather loud cry, and the dogs know they are not supposed to bark in the house. So if you ask Mason "What does Kitty say" he says, "AhhhhHHHHHHhhhhHHHH" and if you ask "What does Doggie say" he says, "Pbbbbbbtttttt" (he hears the dogs sneeze every morning and thats about the most noise they make!)
Toddlers can be so funny, especially Mason. When he's not testing my patience he's making me laugh!
